The Whale Season is from June to December. Our journey to Hermanus, along the scenic Clarens Drive, offers spectacular coastal views of False Bay. Visit Stony Point Nature Reserve which is home to one of the largest successful breeding colonies of African Penguins in the world. Embark on an exhilarating 2 hour Whale Watching Boat Trip in search of the majestic Southern Right Whale. Our Tour continues into the stunningly picturesque Hemel en Aarde Wine Valley for a relaxing, wine-filled experience, with vineyards stretching along the entirety of the Valley. We then journey to South Hill Vineyards in the Elgin Wine Valley, which is famous for it's top cool climate producing wines.
Travel along the spectacular Cape Peninsula coastline to Simon's Town, home of the South African Navy. We will pass through charming historical fishing villages, secluded coves and pristine sweeping beaches. Enjoy lunch at the famous Brass Bell Restaurant, overlooking the glistening Atlantic Ocean, in Kalk Bay Harbour. Visit Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens which is acclaimed as one of the great botanical gardens of the world. Few gardens can match the sheer grandeur of the setting of Kirstenbosch, against the eastern slopes of Table Mountain. We then visit the beautiful Boulders Beach which is the only place in the world where you get up close to the African Penguins. We then head to the Cape of Good Hope which is the most southwestern tip of the African Continent. With its diverse habitat, ranging from rocky mountain tops to beaches and open sea, the Cape of Good Hope is home to at least 250 species of birds. En route back to Cape Town, we drive over Chapman’s Peak, on the Atlantic Coast, which is one of the most spectacular marine drives in the world.
Established in 1685, Constantia Wine Valley is the birthplace of South Africa’s wine farming industry and home to Klein Constantia's Vin De Constance wine, one of the greatest wines in the world. Kings vied for the possession of this wine; Louis Philippe sent emissaries from France to fetch it: Napoleon drank it on the island of St Helena to find solace in his lonely exile. This sweet, luscious and excellent dessert wine soon became part of the literature of the 19th Century. Constantia produces a wide range of unique, award winning wines that benefit from the cool sea breezes blowing across False Bay. Our Tour covers a carefully selected mix of iconic, historic Wine Estates, as well as, modern, boutique Wineries.
Begin with a trip to the top of magnificent Table Mountain in the revolving cable car. Table Mountain is one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. The main feature of Table Mountain is the level plateau approximately three kilometers from side to side, edged by impressive cliffs. The plateau, flanked by Devil's Peak to the east and by Lion's Head to the west, forms a dramatic backdrop to Cape Town. Visit the colourful homes and cobble stoned streets of the Bo-Kaap. The Bo-Kaap is situated on the slopes of Signal Hill above the city centre and is a historical centre of Cape Malay culture. The Nurul Islam Mosque, established in 1844, is located here. Stroll through the beautiful Company Gardens which was originally created in the 1650s by the region's first European settlers and provided fertile ground to grow fresh produce to replenish ships rounding the Cape of Good Hope. Shop for African curios at Greenmarket Square and enjoy lunch at the bustling V&A Waterfront. Complete your Tour with a boat trip to Robben Island Prison Museum with its rich 500 year old multi-layered history. Nelson Mandela spent 18 years imprisoned on Robben Island.
Embark on a breathtaking journey through the stunning Cape Wine Regions and historical towns of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl. This is red wine country, famous for Bordeaux grape varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petite Verdot. Stellenbosch is a university town and home of Cape Dutch architecture. Franschhoek was established in 1688 by the French Huguenots. Paarl is the third oldest town in South Africa and produces some of the best red wines in the world. You will experience a private wine cellar tour, where you will meet the winemaker, discover the history of South African wines and experience a unique wine tasting. You will enjoy a gourmet lunch, tasting local cuisine, on a world class Wine Estate, surrounded by vineyards and majestic mountains. We will then move onto some hidden local Wine Estates, where you will have fun pairing chocolate with wine.
Richard took us on 2 wonderful Tours: a fabulous Cape Winelands Tour, experiencing some unique and boutique vineyards and then a beautiful Cape Peninsula Tour including penguins, a scenic drive and a delicious lunch in Kalk Bay Harbour. Richard is fabulous company, is truly passionate about his wonderful homeland and is the perfect Tour Guide. We had the best experience and it really made our trip. First time to Cape Town and we will definitely be back. Thank you so much for making our time in Cape Town, so memorable.
Thank you Richard for a fabulous Cape Winelands Tour to Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek. We really appreciated the effort you put into planning a prefect Tour that combined fascinating history, storytelling, incredible food and, of course, wine tasting. We enjoyed the diversity of experiences and the richness of South Africa's local culture. Your Cape Winelands are truly spectacular and we were immensely impressed with the quality of South African wine. Thank you for being part of our unforgettable South African experience.
We booked a Cape Winelands Tour and a Cape Agulhas Tour. Richard was very knowledgeable about vineyards, specific wines, foods, topography, plants, animals and South African history. Richard has a bright and sincere personality that made it easy to listen to his descriptions, or just chat. He also interacted very well with vineyard or restaurant staff, personally knew several owners, and showed respect toward others who happened to be visiting the same places. We still find ourselves "missing Richard". We had two truly memorable trips.
Simply amazing!!! Richard goes above and beyond to accommodate your requests and meets your every expectation. He is very informative, knowledgeable and he has many great stories to share. It's a very personable Tour, which is wonderful, as I've always done tours with large groups of people. If you book with Richard, you definitely won't be disappointed. He's very punctual and reliable. I am overjoyed that I didn't book my Tours with another Tour Company! I am a single woman travelling solo and always felt extremely safe with Richard.
We had a spectacular Cape Winelands Tour with Richard. He is a charming, intellectual, and beautiful human being with remarkable knowledge, not only about the wine industry, but also the history of South Africa. Our lunch at La Petite Ferme, in Franschhoek, was absolutely delicious with beathtaking mountainous views over the valley. I would highly recommend this Tour to anyone wanting a deeper understanding of wine and an authentic experience with an outstanding host. My trip with Cape Ability Tours is a highlight that I will never forget.
We knew nothing about South African wine, and in the comfort of Richard’s luxury vehicle, we explored multiple wineries, in three different regions. Lola, the owner of Mitre's Edge, is a gem of a winemaker with world-class knowledge. From strolling through the most beautiful gardens at Babylonstoren, to pairing delicious cheese and chocolate with wine, Richard took us on a wild and hilarious journey, whilst serving us a solid slice of South African history. Leaving feeling more like friends than customers, I would go on this tour a thousand times over!
